Analyzers, Physiologic, Visual Function

Definition : Physiologic analyzers that measure and evaluate the main physical characteristics of vision, the visual system, and other eye structures. These analyzers usually determine near, intermediate, and far visual acuity; depth and color perception; muscle balance (heterophoria); visual fields; and interior eye structures that are integral to proper vision. Some analyzers include computer processing and result-recording capabilities. Dedicated visual function analyzers to assess eye movement, macular integrity, tear structure, and interior eye structures are also available. Visual function analyzers are frequently used for vision screening and for selecting patients that would benefit from certain ophthalmological procedures.
