Auditory Function Screening Devices, Newborn

Definition : Auditory function screening devices designed to detect hearing loss in new borns. Tests are based on the assess (either manual or automated) of the response of the hearing pathway from the ear to the cochlea by detecting the otoacoustic emissions (OAE); from the ear to the brainstem by detecting the auditory brainstem response (ABR); or both. These devices typically consist of an audio frequency generator, earphones, sensors, cables, a computerized processing unit, and a display and/or printer.
