Definition : Saw blades designed for use as the cutting component of a manually operated usually handheld saw used to cut materials, objects, or anatomic structures. These devices typically consist of a detachable, toothed, flat blade that is attached to a saw that includes a mechanism that is typically a manually operated frame. Dedicated manual saw blades are available for use in orthopedic surgery to cut bone and other hard tissue, for amputation, to cut cast, and for use in postmortem procedures.
