Definition : Exercisers designed to improve balance and muscle strength. These exercisers are usually wooden staircases with siderails to support the balance of the user. Static stair exercisers are mainly intended to improve balance and increase muscular strength and endurance, particularly in the lower body (e.g., quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteus, hip flexors, calves). They are used mainly in physical therapy and rehabilitation.
