Freezers, Laboratory, Ultralow Temperature, Chest

Definition : Laboratory freezers with a low height, top-opening (chest) configuration, designed for storage of products and samples, such as in vitro diagnosis reagents and laboratory tissue and body fluid samples that require very low temperatures, typically from -40 to -90 degrees Celsius (-40 to -130 degrees Fahrenheit). These freezers are usually made with a corrosion-resistant (typically stainless steel) interior, minimizing the risk of adulteration, contamination, and/or corrosion of contents; they usually include either no internal shelving or very simple shelving. Ultralow laboratory freezers include automatic defrost capability, sensors, controls, monitors, and alarms for dependable long-term storage following laboratory storage standards. A wide variety of ultralow temperature chest freezers with different sizes and capacities is available.
