IVD Test Reagent/Kits, Immunoassay, Toxicology, Ethanol Consumption Marker, Carbohydrate-Deficient Transferrin

Definition : Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum) to determine carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT). CDT is a highly sensitive and specific marker for long-term heavy alcohol consumption in men over 40 years, but it is not a good marker in young men and women. Generally CDT is a better marker than gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) in the identification of alcohol abuse among patients with alcoholic and nonalcoholic liver diseases. The sensitivity of the test can be enhanced using CDT and GGT combined.
