Definition : Shoulder upper-limb orthoses designed for maximum restriction of movements and/or total immobilization of the shoulder joint. These orthoses consist of a variety of devices worn by the person, typically including a modified arm sling and some means (e.g., trunk or shoulder straps) for fixed attachment to the user's body. Shoulder immobilizer orthoses are used mainly during rehabilitation after injuries and/or trauma.
