Monitors, Telemetric, Electroencephalography
Definition : Telemetric monitors designed to continuously monitor the electrical activity of the brain so that waveform and pattern changes can be readily evaluated. These monitors typically include a portable radio transmitter that is attached to the patient and electrodes that are placed on the skull (e.g., scalp, sphenoid bone) to carry the electrical signal from the brain into the transmitter. Electroencephalographic monitors are used in neurologically affected patients; they are also used for assessing the neurologic status of patients in intensive care units.
