Clamps, Surgical, Vascular
Definition : Surgical clamps designed for the atraumatic compression of veins or arteries during open-surgery procedures, usually to cause total or partial occlusion (i.e., coarctation). These clamps are typically handheld, manual instruments including two parts pivoted at the center with straight or curved, serrated distal blades. The serrated region frequently has a central, nonserrated trough running its length, to prevent trauma to the enclosed vessel. Vascular surgical clamps are used in a variety of surgical procedures (e.g., resection, anastomosis).
