Definition : Reagents intended for use in antigen-antibody reactions performed for red blood cell grouping (typing), antibody detection and identification, and cross-matching of donor and recipient prior to blood component transfusion (known as compatibility testing). These reagents are also intended for use in antigen-antibody reactions performed during evaluations of adverse reactions to blood component transfusion and red blood cell autoimmunity (e.g., autoimmune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic disease of the newborn).
