Spill Kits

Definition : Prepackaged collections (either custom or standard) of equipment and supplies necessary for the cleanup/containment of spills/leaks of hazardous or potentially hazardous materials, such as chemicals (e.g., formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, formalin), cytotoxic materials (e.g., antineoplastic agents), mercury, infectious waste (e.g., body fluids), or radioactive material. Typical components of these kits include absorbents, towelettes, and other items intended to absorb and/or encapsulate/solidify hazardous waste for further handling (e.g., removal, decontamination, storage/transport, disposal); personal protection equipment (e.g., gloves, goggles, gowns); labels; disposal bags/containers; documentation forms; scoops/scrapers; and other items.
