Dock/Battery Chargers

Definition : Supporting structures (i.e., docks) designed to facilitate connectivity to otherwise handheld (or portable) devices and/or for automated charging of their internal rechargeable batteries. These docks (also known as docking stations) typically consist of a structure made of metal, hard plastic, or a combination of these that is usually mounted on the wall or placed on a tabletop. The docks hold and provide appropriate connectors to plug-in or cradle the handheld device, facilitating their connectivity and/or providing means to recharge their internal batteries. The docks may also include wire or wireless connection to other devices and /or information systems, a power converter (e.g., 120 VAC to 12 VDC), and a line cord for connection to the mains.
