Definition : Orthopedic shoes designed to compensate for weak muscles by attaching a spring-loaded device to the sole. These devices typically consist of a double-soled shoe with metallic wire springs between them that provide additional energy to the user when walking, facilitating gait. Spring-loaded shoes are intended for weak (i.e., flaccid or paralyzed) equinus in patients suffering from muscular dystrophy, usually after cerebrovascular accidents, and/or other diseases.
