Carts, Filing, Medical Card/Chart

Definition : Filing carts designed to store and transport medical charts and/or cards. These carts typically consist of a metallic structure that includes vertical card holders, usually capable of filing cards and/or charts up to 9 x 12 inch (22.5 x 30 cm); most carts have mechanisms to lock cardholders in place (e.g., spring loaders). Medical card/chart carts may also include shelves and/or drawers for additional filing or storage; they are typically mounted on 3 inch (7.5 cm) diameter wheels or larger. They are used by healthcare staff when making rounds or in mobile field operations and in other areas of healthcare facilities (e.g., radiographic rooms).
