Stimulators, Electrical, Soft Tissue, Wound

Definition : Electrical stimulators designed to apply electrical stimuli to soft tissue wounds. These stimulators typically consist of: (1) a low-intensity current generator (typically a current of less than 1mA) that may apply direct, pulsed, or other waveform current signals to the tissues, (2) cables to transmit the signal to the tissues, and (3) dedicated dressing electrodes (including dedicated gloves and socks) applied on the injured skin. These stimulators add an external stimulus to the biological current existing during wound healing. Wound electrical stimulators are intended to accelerating the healing process, especially in chronic wounds (e.g., decubitus ulcers).
