Catheters, Biliary, Stricturoplasty, Percutaneous, Balloon

Definition : Percutaneous stricturoplasty biliary catheters that include a balloon that can be inflated with air, water or contrast media at or near their distal tip. The procedure is generally started with a small-caliber balloon (e.g., 4 to 6 mm in diameter) and progresses up to an 8 to 12 mm ballon, depending on the bile duct diameter. These catheters are mostly used for dilation of benign strictures of the biliary tree; their use is frequently followed by placing of stents.
