Ports, Injection/Infusion, Peripheral Vessel

Definition : Injection/infusion ports that are surgically implanted in the upper limbs so that the catheter is inserted in the basilic, cephalic, or axillary vein, with the port placed in the inner aspect of the forearm or in the upper arm. Peripheral ports can be placed using angiography or using a sensor wire/catheter tracking system, the latter of which eliminates the need for fluoroscopy.
