Definition : Antimicrobial impregnated dressings designed to be applied over a wound by means of gaseous suspensions of extremely small particles of a liquid or solid (i.e., aerosols). Aerosol dressings are typically made of antimicrobial agents or a combination of antimicrobial and other substances (e.g. haemostatic agents) that, once applied (i.e., evenly sprayed) on the wound, solidify to provide a protective barrier for the wound and to prevent infection.
