Definition : Microbiology reagents used to detect and/or identify one or more of the species of Plasmodium that parasitize human blood. Plasmodium is the etiological cause of malaria; the most common species that infect humans are P. vivax and P. falciparum, but P. malariae and P. ovale also infect humans.
