Definition : Endoscopic procedure needles designed to make punctures in the myocardial tissue through the venous systems. They typically consist of a thin, flexible outer cannula (typically 56 to 71 cm) and an inner sharp, curved needle (e.g., 18 or 19 gauge) that protrudes several millimeters from the tip of the cannula. Cardiac endoscopic procedure needles are typically used to allow left atrial access from the right atrium through the atrial septum during fluoroscopically-guided catheterization procedures.
