Gloves

Definition : Garments designed to cover the hands with separate sections for each of the fingers and thumb and frequently extending part way up the arm. Gloves are usually made of fabrics, plastics, latex, leather or a combination of these and they are available in reusable or disposable varieties. Dedicated gloves intended for clinical use (e.g., examination, treatment, surgery) and/or for manipulation of chemicals such as products used in chemotherapy procedures are available. Gloves intended for non-clinical use in healthcare facilities (e.g., housekeeping, central supply handling) are also available as well as gloves used by patients such as therapeutic pressure gloves and gloves worn while pushing a wheelchair.
