Definition : Microbiology reagents intended to identify species of Vibrio, a genus of rod-shaped bacteria of the family Vibrionaceae, by detecting the target bacteria, usually through tests performed on bacteria cultures. Some species of these bacteria may cause human infections; these species include V. cholerae, which causes Asiatic cholera, and several species that may cause diarrhea.
