Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to Leishmania, a genus of protozoa of the suborder Trypanosomatina. The characteristics of Leishmania parasite infections (leishmaniasis) depend on the species or subspecies. Infections are usually classified according to their effects as cutaneous, mucocutaneous, and visceral. These parasites are usually transmitted by sand flies.
