Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify any of the four types of the dengue virus, a single-stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae, by detecting the ribonucleic acid (RNA) of the target virus. These viruses are the etiologic agent of dengue and hemorrhagic dengue. Dengue is typically transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes of the genus Aedes.
