Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify mutations in the arginase, liver (ARG1) gene, located at chromosome 6q23, which encodes for arginase isoform A1 or liver arginase, the catalytic agent in the last step of the urea cycle. Mutations at this locus have been identified in patients with arginase deficiency and early-onset hyperargininemia and hyperammoniemia.
