Flowmeters, Intravenous Infusion Rate

Definition : Flowmeters designed to measure the infusion rate of fluids during gravity intravenous administration. These devices frequently consist of photometric instruments employing technologies that include light sources and optical sensors close to the drip chamber and drop-counting algorithms, and displays to show the infusion rate in drops or mL/min and/or the total volume infused in a given time. Infusion rate flowmeters are typically used with gravity administration sets.
