Procedure Kit/Trays, Lymphangiography

Definition : Prepackaged collections of the devices and supplies (either custom or standard) needed to inject a radiopaque contrast medium or dye for performing the examination of lymph nodes and lymph vessels (i.e., a lymphangiography). Items in these kits usually include tourniquets, a pressure injector, needles, syringes, a cannula, cleansing swabs, and contrast media or dye. The kits are frequently supplied in supporting trays (i.e., procedure trays) consisting of a flat-bottomed receptacle with a border around the periphery supporting all the instruments and supplies needed for the procedure; the trays are usually covered or wrapped. These procedure kits and trays are intended for use during diagnostic purposes on the extent and location of lymph vessels and lymph nodes; oftentimes the tests are performed to evaluate the extent of a lymphatic cancer. Lymphangiography procedure kits and trays are used at hospital radiology departments and/or other healthcare facilities.
