Software, Computed Tomography Study
Definition : Software designed to acquire, process, and archive data and images obtained during computed tomography (CT) studies. This software usually works with CT scanning systems and may also interact with devices used in the procedures, such as monitors, printers, contrast media injectors, and recorders. CT study software is intended to work only with one or a few models of CT scanning systems and related devices, usually supplied by the same manufacturer. This also facilitates the processing and/or sending of data to and from hospital information systems. The software may or may not be available separate from the CT equipment and may be updated and/or upgraded (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the equipment. Dedicated software is available for a variety of CT studies, such as bone mineral and cerebral blood flow analysis and also for cardiac, dental, and pulmonary image studies.
