Tents, Mist

Definition : Tents designed to provide a suspension of liquid or solid particles (i.e., aerosol) for patient breathing. These tents typically consist of a pliable plastic sheet held by a plastic or metallic frame that is suspended as a canopy above the bed; adult aerosol treatment tents typically cover only the head and part of the torso. The tents are usually connected to an aerosol source through wide-bore tubing. The use of aerosol treatment tents avoids the need to directly attach a nasal cannula, face mask, or endotracheal tube to the patient. These tents are especially useful for treatment of breathing disorders (e.g., asthma) in patients who cannot tolerate such attachments.

Entry Terms : "Tents, Croup" , "Tents, Aerosol Administration" , "Mist Tents" , "Croupettes" , "Cool Mist Tents"
