Definition : Spatulas designed to manipulate and/or dissect eye tissue adhesions, especially iris adhesions to the cornea and/or lens (synechiae). These devices typically consist of a metallic (e.g., stainless steel) handheld instrument with a straight or curved very thin, flat, semi-sharp distal tip. Surgical eye spatulas for adhesions are used during synechiolysis ophthalmic procedures.
