Definition : Needles designed for insertion in predetermined sites (i.e., acupuncture points) of the body to perform acupuncture procedures. These needles typically consist of sharp metallic devices of small diameter (0.12 to 0.30 mm is typical) and 15 to 30 mm length; most needles include an easy-grip ring handle. Treatments using acupuncture needles are intended to relieve pain, for surgical anesthesia, or other therapies.
